Bench Jeweler

Braswell & Son | Little Rock, AR (Markham store) | Full-time | On-site

Pay: $22 to $28 per hour, based on experience. Up to $30 per hour with a GIA Graduate Gemologist credential or equivalent.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a 1-hour lunch. No nights. Rarely any weekends. Closed on holidays.

Braswell & Son started in 1979 as a small jewelry store in Little Rock. Today we are a luxury pawnbroker with eight stores across Arkansas and Tennessee. We are still family owned.

We are pawnbrokers dedicated to creating lasting relationships while serving the needs of the community in a positive atmosphere.

The Role

You will be the bench jeweler for all eight of our stores. Repairs, sizing, and pieces to refurbish come to you at our Markham store in Little Rock.

Your work decides how our jewelry looks in the case. It also decides how a customer feels when they pick up a repair. We want someone who takes pride in both.

What You Will Do

  • Size rings up and down.
  • Repair chains, clasps, prongs, and heads.
  • Set, tighten, and replace stones.
  • Clean, polish, and refurbish pawned and purchased jewelry so it is ready to sell.
  • Help with valuations and appraisals for pawn, buy, and resale decisions.
  • Test precious metals and identify gemstones using approved methods.
  • Log every piece in and out. Keep a clear record of where each item is at all times.
  • Keep repair work on schedule for all eight stores. Tell store managers early when something will run late.
  • Travel to other stores now and then when needed.
  • Keep your bench, tools, and equipment clean, safe, and in good working order.
What You Bring

  • At least 1 year of hands-on bench experience, including sizing, soldering, and stone setting.
  • Willingness to complete a hands-on bench test.
  • Steady hands and a sharp eye for detail.
  • Honesty you can prove. You will handle high-value items every day.
  • Strong organization. You will manage work coming in from eight stores.
  • Comfort using a computer to log and track work.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Nice to Have

  • GIA Graduate Gemologist credential or equivalent.
  • Appraisal experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit at a jeweler's bench for long periods and do detailed hand work.
  • Use torches, polishing equipment, and cleaning chemicals with the right safety gear.
  • Lift and move items up to 25 pounds.

The Fine Print

This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position. Hours over 40 in a work week are paid at 1.5 times your regular rate.

Employment with Braswell & Son is at-will.
